Is moissanite a diamond?

No, and that's the appeal. Moissanite is a separate, lab-created gemstone (silicon carbide) that shows more rainbow fire than a diamond and rates 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, so a solitaire this size stays bright with everyday wear.
